Immortal Emblem of Humanity; One Flag, One Heart

“I want to show to those who deprive people the right to love of country, that when we know how to sacrifice ourselves for our duties and convictions, death does not matter if one dies for those one loves—for his country and for others dear to him.”—Jose Rizal

On June 12, 1898, Emilio Aguinaldo declared Philippine independence, but it lacked two essential elements of statehood: territory and sovereignty. The territory lacked the legitimacy that comes with international recognition. Because the Philippines were still under Spanish rule at the time, Aguinaldo's government lacked sovereignty as well.

The date of Araw ng Kalayaan is June 12 because it was the day when Filipinos demonstrated to the world how much they value freedom and democracy, demonstrating that we can stand on our own. As a result, the PH Independence Day was born.

Independence day become one of the most important celebration of the Filipinos,  despite the fact that it’s a yearly celebration but it’s important that we reminisce the sacrifices of our heroes that really give their best so the that Philippines will have its own freedom after a hundred years.

The celebration of Independence Day demonstrates a sense of patriotism toward the country. It will also demonstrate our gratitude to the freedom fighters who gave their lives for our independence. The celebration of Independence Day also inspires the younger generation to serve their country. As a result, celebrating Independence Day is essential in order to keep the spirit of patriotism alive.

We all have the freedom now, but this freedom takes a big role that we need to do, so that the scarifies of the heroes that exert their efforts will not be wasted and trash.

“Let us teach our people again to be proud that they are Filipinos. Let us teach them to realize anew that being a Filipino means having as rich and noble a heritage of language, culture, patriotism and heroic deeds as any nation on earth. —Carlos P. Romulo
